Next weekend 26/28 October we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of Castlerea St Kevin’s GAA Club with the amalgation of Castlerea and Tarmon clubs in 1968. In 1968 the club won four county championship titles, senior football, u21 football, minor football and junior hurling. We will honour these players at the function. The official opening of the new playing pitch and the new spectator stand will take place also. The order of events on the weekend is Bingo Friday night in the O’Rourke Centre at 8-30pm. Under age football all day Saturday at u8,u10, u12, u14 and u16 level boys and girls. On Sunday 11am boys minor football Callaghan Cup, 12pm senior ladies football followed by recital by Castlerea Town band, 2pm blessing and official opening of new stand, 2-15pm blessing and official opening of new playing pitch, 2-30pm senior men’s football game, 4pm refreshments in O’Rourke Centre, 5pm presentations to 1968 winning teams and guests followed by music, dancing and chat.  Football Results: the men’s senior team were defeated by Tulsk last Saturday in the O’Gara Cup in Tulsk, the u12 boy’s were defeated by St Michaels in the summer league final last Saturday in Enfield, this completes their programme for the year thanks to the boys, their management team and their parents for their commitment during the year and the girl’s u16 team defeated Strokestown in the division 2 quarter final last Saturday in O’Rourke Park, they will now play Eire Og in the semi final date and time to be confirmed. See local press for county fixtures and results. There was no winner of the lotto jackpot of €7,000 on Friday 19th October. Numbers drawn on the night were 10, 12, 18 and 27. €50 winners on the night were Marty McDonnell, Maureen Flanagan, Seamus Conroy, Noreen Corcoran and Julie Collins. Next weeks jackpot is €7100 and the draw takes place in The Cosy Bar on Friday 26th October. Tickets on sale in shops and pubs in town or from any club official at €2 per panel or three panels for €5. Castlerea St Kevin’s thanks everyone who supports our lotto. Next bingo in O’Rourke Centre on Friday 26th October at 8-30pm. The jackpot will be €1,500 on 45 calls or less, or €300 on 48 calls or less. Quick lotto is at €500. We extend our sympathy to Gavin Manning and the Manning family on the death of  Gavin’s father Noel Manning Roselawn Drive last week.
